TGfU in the Course of Study in each school level
From April in 2011, new Course of Study for elementary school (http://www.mext.go.jp/a_menu/shotou/new-cs/youryou/1304417.htm) is implementing.
From April in 2012, that of for junior high school(http://www.mext.go.jp/a_menu/shotou/new-cs/youryou/1304424.htm) is implementing.
From April in 2013, that of for senior high school(http://www.mext.go.jp/a_menu/shotou/new-cs/youryou/1304427.htm) will be implementing.
The Course of Studies for elementary and junior highs school are translated in English.
In Game in elementary school physical education and in Ball game in junior high school, concept of TGfU is introduced.
In elementary school, games are divided into invasion, net and fielding/striking types.
Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Sciences and Technology published also the Guideline for teaching games in elementary school(http://www.mext.go.jp/a_menu/sports/jyujitsu/1294600.htm).
TGfU in PETE
Base on the Course of Study, National Center for Teacher’s Development provides Physical education teacher education program in cooperating with Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Sciences and Technology. In 2012, totally, 16 programs were offered for 471 participants. 4 programs of them are for ball games in junior and senior high school. In these programs, concepts of TGfU are introduced.
Several sport discipline associations such as flag football (http://www.japanflag.org/) and rugby association (http://www.tagrugby-japan.jp/) are trying to develop quality modified games for physical education and teaching guideline for teachers in school.
Link in academic societies
Japan Society of Physical Education, Health and Sport Sciences(http://taiiku-gakkai.or.jp/), Japanese Society of Sport Education (http://jsose.jp/) and Japan Society for the Pedagogy of Physical Education (http://jsppe.gr.jp/) make link with TGfU web site. Some articles on tactical approach are published in journals of these societies.
