The Salud Escolar Integral program in El Salvador is focused around using sport and physical education as a tool to combat youth violence by focusing on the development of life skills. TGfU, as an humanistic and learner centred approach to games, is an ideal mechanism to foster the understanding of life skills.
Sport has been internationally recognized as a tool that can be used to promote positive development. The Salud Escolar Intergral project represents a partner program between researchers, educators and government organizations within Canada and El Salvador who are committed to using sport and physical activity towards the healthy development of people, communities and nations.
