Colombia has a great potential of development in sport games. Colombians are attracted to practice, watch and enjoy sport games. Of course, is the soccer by far the most popular game among children and young people. Millions of participants enroll every day in sport organizations or play without specify guide thousands of games. Hundreds of children show a special talent for the learning of sport games, motivated by the huge display of news about sport games and its heroes in the media.
To make the most of all this potential are necessary evolved didactic processes which return to a kind of “soccer in the street” (most of us, as children, had the opportunity of many hours of autonomous play in the street) but with better conditions inside schools and sport clubs. The TGfU approach offers a well based standpoint for games learning and cognitive engagement within the game context. So TGfU constitutes and powerful tool for both teachers and coaches who intent the formation of integral citizens who then support the development of a better country.
As a member of the IAB I will promote the development of TGfU and all game centered approaches in my country. I will share information, advances and research products with my colleagues and will start a collaborative work with partners in several countries to interchange experiences about implementation, actions and processes for the transformation of teaching believes and teaching behavior with the aim to overcome some detrimental effects of traditional teacher-oriented didactic approaches. I will advise government and not-government organizations about dissemination of the TGfU idea.
As the main promoter of TGfU in Colombia I will intend a progressive change of teacher and coaches believes and behavior in order to improve the didactic processes of teaching games in any kind of games settings along the country.
